The basketball website Hoops Hype has just come out with a preliminary mock draft for the 2010 NBA Draft. Look who they selected for the Raptors:
“An athletic European big man with great size and length?” We have one of those already:

I can’t say we are all that thrilled about how that is working out.
“Not the toughest player around?”

Why does that description sound familiar?
”Struggles at times on the defensive end.”

Jesus, why would we do this twice?
“Is a very poor rebounder.”

He’s fucking seven feet tall and grabs six boards a game. Even by accident he should be getting more than that.
“Can get frustrated when things aren’t going his way.”

Does “frustrated” mean the same as “lazy”? Because if so, I am pretty sure we have a player that covers that characteristic off.
What current player do they compare Mr. Motiejunas to?

“Andrea Bargnani”.
Seriously, fuck you sideways, Hoops Hype. I can say with great certainty that you have done a piss-poor job of gauging the mood of basketball fans in Canada regarding their “star” centre. What’s that old adage? ”Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, I will fucking burn the ACC to the ground if you draft another Euro stiff.” Yeah, that sounds about right.

Hoops Hype assumes The Raptors are putting all there eggs in a white, lazy, greasy basket, which they are afraid of. Or something along those lines.
/now they have him going 12th and the Raptors taking Kentucky’s backup center.

Is the NBA really that bad that a guy whose only plus is “upside as a scorer” will be drafted 13?

Zan Tabak’s upside was listed as “Ivan Drago stand-in potential”.

THE Zan Tabak? Of Jugoplastika/Pop 84/Slobodna Dalmacija Split?

HoopsHype thinks Cole Aldrich is going to go at #6. His comparison? Joel Przybilla. When you can select a player of the caliber of a Joel Przybilla at #6, you have to make that choice. 4.2 points per game is a stat that makes it almost a no-brainer.

I’m pretty sure that NBA scouts use the same website to scout eastern European basketball talent as they do to select mail order brides.

Put him in the Pf position, he struggles being a Center. Make him look like a Dirk 2.0 oh, and draft a Center. A real Center.

LOL laughed through this whole thing, awesome! Bargnani 2.0 here we go!!

To be fair, they also have the Nets picking John Wall at #1, and his description is of a rich man’s Devin Harris.
